The North Bay Heritage Gardeners are dedicated to developing a year-round, community-based, educational, horticultural, and environmental program focusing on waterfront beautification. They work with the Near North Palliative Care closely to maintain a space for butterflies to prosper, and work mutually to support each other’s organizational needs. They are a collaborative, friendly, strong group of volunteers.
Further Information
Primarily a volunteer gardening organization with a focus on horticultural and environmental education. The Heritage Gardeners are a local organization with over 300 volunteer gardeners who maintain and enhance the ornamental gardens along the waterfront. New volunteers are always welcome; no gardening experience required! FREE education sessions are offered to grow your gardening knowledge.
The gardening season runs from May to October each year, kicking off with a spring community cleanup in May and finishing by planting bulbs in October. Volunteers are placed in teams along the waterfront and garden under the guidance of a team leader. A guest gardener program is available for occasional gardeners. Teams typically spend 1-2 hours per week maintaining their garden bed.
