The Near North Palliative Care Network (NNPCN) is a Volunteer Visiting Hospice providing respite to individuals with a terminal illness, and, offering peer to peer bereavement support throughout the community.
Our office is located at 2025 Main Street West, North Bay, Ontario.
NNPCN is seeking three (3) dynamic students to help organize our Live Butterfly Release ONLINE LIVESTREAM event. Due to the ban on public gatherings we will hold a VIRTUAL LIVE BUTTERFLY RELEASE on Saturday, July 11th, 12 PM noon to 1 PM, live streamed from the gardens of St. Joseph’s Motherhouse, 2025 Main Street West, North Bay, ON, P1B 2X6.
The Live Butterfly Release is an annual event. This year, it will be a symbolic community Celebration of Life, In Memory of our loved ones who passed way. NNPCN will release around 300 butterflies in Live Stream, on behalf of our benefactors wishing to remember deceased loved ones. Most donors are seniors and families of deceased seniors.
THE PUBLIC WILL PARTICIPATE ONLINE EXCLUSIVELY. NO PHYSICAL PUBLIC GATHERING.
Candidates must be 30 years old maximum and eligible to work in Canada. Candidates will be working remote online from home most of the time. All positions depend on the candidate having high-speed internet and a good phone line available.
The three positions will help us do online marketing, online customer engagement and care, receive online donations, send online income tax receipts, etc. The whole event will be online, broadcast in Live Stream and link sent post-event to all donors.
• total grant for each position $3,797.00 ($14.01/hour – total of 240 hours)
• tasks to be executed adapted to remote online work;
Full time or part time options:
• Full-time option – start date June 08, end date July 31. 8 weeks, 30 hrs./week, 6 hrs./day Monday to Friday = 240 hours total.
• Part-time option – start date June 08, end date September 25. 16 week, 15 hrs./week, 3 hrs./day, Monday to Friday = 240 hours total.
To be eligible, you must:
• be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
• be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment*; and,
• have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
*International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. As the objective of the CSJ program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student’s time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.
Ability to speak and write French would be an asset for all positions.
1. EVENT COORDINATION ASSISTANT:
This dynamic individual will work directly with the Executive Director and Event Lead to source partnerships with: 1) organizations that partner with other organizations; 2) organizations that provide programs and services to seniors; 3) donors. They will promote the event with local media and via social media. They will oversee the Live Butterfly Release event to ensure another successful year. This youth will also reconcile the results of the event and suggestions and recommendations for future events. Field of Studies: Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Multi-Media, Fundraising.
2. FIELD COORDINATION ASSISTANT:
This position will be part of the team for our signature fundraising event, our signature fundraising event, the 11th Annual Live Butterfly Release, a community celebration to be held Saturday, July 11, 2020 ON LIVESTREAM. This position’s duties will include: organizing the event materials. They will also recruit and organize the lists of donors and stakeholders. They will assist with phone and email invitations. All duties will be under the supervision of the Executive Director and the Volunteer Coordinator. Field of Studies: Marketing, Business Administration, Social Services, Communications, Multi-Media, Fundraising.
3. OUTREACH COORDINATION ASSISTANT
This position will identify relevant stakeholders within the health, social services and public sectors and provide awareness and education to the public to increase the visibility of the NNPCN and its mission.
Duties will include preparing and making presentations; preparing and uploading social media content for our website, Facebook, twitter accounts; attending online events as a representative of the NNPCN; and, contacting and maintaining dialogue with organizational partners.
