Yoga for Grief Support is a class designed for individuals grieving the death of a loved one.

Although grief and bereavement are a natural and universal experience, it still has a profound effect on our minds, bodies and spirit. When we grieve we experience physical, mental, emotional and spiritual symptoms. As with chronic pain or other disorders, we need to move through the center of our pain in our hearts that we feel and experience during times of grief, the tendency is to skirt around the edges to avoid the sensations that we feel. Grief cannot be processed through rational thought alone, as it is a journey through the heart.

With the practice of yoga we invite ourselves to move into our bodies in a deeply compassionate way, so that our journey through the heart filled with grief can be experienced in a way that is self-supporting and nurturing.

When the ancient practice of yoga is combined with a model of bereavement support, we realize and see that we are not alone on our journey and that we have support in many areas. Creating a safe and sacred space to begin your process and explore sensations, thoughts and emotions that are held in both the body and the mind.

As a student you will be taught empowering techniques to cope with grief, find compassion for yourself and honour the loss of your loved one.
